Rishikesh is simply beautiful , the beautiful view from ram and Laxman jhula , see ganga flowing by it is all very beautiful and tranquil , i have to say Rishikesh is one of the best places i have been in india, i mean in main town area of Rishikesh people may find a bit chaos but if you move up hill damn the view gets better and better and all that chaos settles down , so if in Rishikesh get a cycle or a scooter as both of them are not that expensive to rent , motorcycle can be a Costly affair but anyway commutation is super easy in Rishikesh , if you love walking you can walk whole day long , if you don’t like to walk and don’t want to ride a bike aswell then take the tuk tuk and vibe in.
So you will enter the town from bus stand moving up and there begins the exploration, the area around bus stand is just Chaos but when you move up it gets better and better, i have been to Rishikesh multiple times and every time i like this holy city even more, as you reach the main town area where all the action happen you can find so many hostel, hotel, cafe etc etc, the best part is they all are reasonably priced , they may add lil bit of white tax here and there but you gotta negotiate the price , it is not expensive at all to stay in Rishikesh, the hostel that i liked in Rishikesh was shiv shakti hostel which was really good, the infrastructure was average but the bed experience was good and the staff was polite and to the point, no random lame talks, i liked it.
So now moving on to the chilling scene, the night life is average, as i think it is more of a yoga town but anyways cafes and eating joints are open till 11-12PM (night), and the thing that i liked is that if you love the gig scene then you can enjoy lot of really cool jam sessions in Rishikesh, being a musician i have played a lot in Rishikesh , conducted few workshops and enjoyed jaming and watching lot of really good musician, so yes the food and recreational aspect is very good, if we take into consideration the religious and spiritual aspects of the town, p.s alcohol is not allowed in the city , so if you want to have a drink you have to go to the nearest village to get one which is around 11 to 12 km from the main city (RAIWALA LIQUOR SHOP) , not a bad deal atall, but the catch is NOW YOU DO NOT HAVE COMMUTE LONGER, now it is all in the town near ram jhula or shivpuri which even near from the city center.
Commutation is easy in Rishikesh and even going to delhi , dehradun , Jaipur or many other main city is easy, the easiest way is to book the tickets from REDBUS.COM or the UTTRAKHAND GOVERNMENT TOURISM PORTAL, or just go the BUS STAND and get a bus to all possible locations from north , west and mid india.
Rishikesh is very beautiful and is one of the best places to meditate, visit exotic temples and beautiful spiritual hubs, the ganga beaches are eternal and every morning and night meditation feel spacey and so psychedelic, i love Rishikesh so much that words cant objectify my experience it is one of the the most relaxed and beautiful city i ever been to.
